This thesis aims to discuss the adoption of translation strategies in political science texts based on the case of Lobbying and Policy Change Chapter 11,from the perspective of Chesterman's Translation Norm. The original book, introduced by Nanjing University Press, was published by the University of Chicago Press on October,2009.This is a political science book and authors of the book discuss the influence of lobbying to policy-making in their country based on the analysis of a four-year survey.Lobbying and Policy Change,as a political science text,is characterized by professionalism, jargons, diverse sentence structures and rigorous logic.Given this, translators may be faced with many difficulties and need some guidance to help them out.Chesterman's Translation Norms can serve as a guidance.According to Chesterman, translation norms can be divided into expectancy norm and professional norm, with the latter being further divided into accountability norm, communicative norm and relation norm. The four norms, serve as macrocosmic guidance for translators and require the translated texts to meet the expectancy of target readers in terms of grammar, readability and style.Translators can refer to Chesterman's practical translation strategies on the syntactic, semantic and pragmatic levels so as to solve specific translation problems, convey the intention of the author and improve the readability and accurancy of the translated text. With specific examples in view, this thesis explains the guiding significance of Chesterman's Translation Norms on the translation of political science texts from macrocosmic translation norms and microcosmic translation strategies.
