Translating The Customs Law Of The Republic Of Croatia Into Chinese Based On Different Thought Patterns In English And Chinese

The material of this thesis is selected the Customs Law of the Republic of Croatia,which mainly involves the rights and obligations of customs agencies,entities conducting foreign trade activities of commodities,and principles and methods of entering and exiting customs in Croatia.In the process of translation,it was found that the process of translating the original English legal texts into Chinese was also the process of turning English thought patterns into Chinese thought patterns.First,to transfer from Englsih linear thought pattern to Chinese circular thought pattern,the sentence is divided into several sence groups according to English grammar and the order of these sence groups should be adjusted according to the circular thought pattern.Second,English analytical thought pattern can be changed into Chinese comprehensive thought pattern byusing translation techniches such as omission and addition.Third,from English objective thought pattern to Chinese subjective thought pattern,the passive voice need to be changed into active voice.Fourth,to transfer the English static thought pattern to Chinese dynamic thought pattern,converting the part of speech is necessary in thr translation process.In all,this translation report mainly focuses on analyzing the different thought patterns in English and Chinese,and their influence on the language style of English and Chinese.When conducting the E-C translation of the translation material,in order to transform from English thought pattern to Chinese thought pattern,various translation strategies are used to deal with it,such as amplification,omission and partof-speech conversion,so that the translated version of the legal texts can not only conform to the reading habits of Chinese readers to the greatest extent but also keep the semantic meaning of English original text.
