| As a tool to deliver knowledge between teachers and students,medium of instruction plays an important role in the primary stage of Chinese teaching.In recent years,with the establishment of Confucius Institutes around the world,the medium of instruction research specific to different countries and nations is gradually rising.Teaching Chinese in Germany is an important part of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.The research on the use of medium of instruction by teachers in this field is necessary and has far-reaching significance.This paper uses three research methods: questionnaire survey,interviews and classroom observations to investigate the use of medium of instruction by teachers in primary Chinese classes at the Confucius Institute of Erfurt University of Applied Science and Technology,Confucius Institute Metropolitan Ruhr of University of Duisburg-Essen and Frankfurt Confucius Institute.Firstly,based on the personal situation of teachers and students,this paper analyzes the particularity of Chinese teaching in Germany.Secondly,through data analysis,it is found that currently teachers mainly have four problems,namely,wrong use of foreign language,lack of knowledge about medium of instruction,insufficient foreign language proficiency,excessive use of foreign language.Finally,by summarizing the effective teaching strategiesadopted by teachers in actual teaching in order to deal with the problems that occur in class due to medium of instruction and combining attitudes and suggestions of teachers and students on the use of medium of instruction in the survey,The author puts forward four suggestions,namely,that teachers with a high level of German should be arranged for the current teaching of Chinese in Germany at the primary stage,teachers should establish the awareness of using medium of instruction scientifically,continuously strengthen foreign language learning and use a variety of teaching methods to make up for foreign language deficiencies.Use foreign languages based on specific circumstances and the needs of the teaching process. |
