| This translation report is about the application of Translation Variation Theory in Korean-Chinese translation based on the translation project of A Research on the Diplomatic Strategy of Korea’s ‘Intermediate Country’ in the Era of U.S.-China Competition.This book was issued by the Korea National Diplomatic Academy in March 2019,which elaborated on the current geopolitical environment and potential diplomatic security crisis of South Korea,proposed new development suggestions in diplomatic security.The book is an information text with detailed,fact-oriented and academic language as a typical research report of a think-tank.According to the feature of the text,it’s appropriate to choose Translation Variation Theory to solve the problems in the translation process in order to make it accomodated to the culture and language custom.This practice report consists of four parts: translation project introduction,original text analysis and theoretical background,classic case analysis,and summary.The first chapter introduces the publishing organization and basic information of the original work,the value of the translation and research,briefly describes the process of translation practice.The second chapter analyzes the original text,introduces the basic content of the translation theory,and points out the necessity and applicability of the application of the translation theory in this practice,especially in terms of language and cultural differences,reader needs,and text characteristics.The third chapter describes the application of specific translation methods in Korean-Chinese translation practice in response to specific problems.The fourth chapter summarizes the experience of this practice and sorts out the methods and principles of the combination of translation theory and Korean-Chinese translation on the basis of this practice.It affirms the application value of Translation Variation Theory and also raises existing problems.Finally comes with the shortcomings of this translation practice.The topic selection of this translation practice project focuses on the international situation and practical needs.It is significant for grasping diplomatic policy of South Korea in the future,studying the trend of the situation on the Korean Peninsula,and promoting the positive development of China-South Korea relations.It also provides a new perspective for the research of China-America relations.In addition,according to the requirements of MTI degree,this translation practice report is not only limited to the translation research of words and sentences,but is based on the actual problems encountered in the real translation process.It improves the quality of the translation in effect,reflects the value of translators in the current era and has practical reference significance for actual translation work. |
