Life3.0: Being Human in the Age of Artificial Intelligence is a theoretical book on AI written by Max Tegmark.It is a popular science book as well,which introduces the influence that AI will make on human's life.In the third chapter of this book,the writer introduced the impact of artificial intelligence on space exploration,finance,manufacturing,transportation,energy,medical,communications,weapons and so on.Since there are comprehensive analyses and predictions which can make contributions to study on AI,the translation of this book is of significance to China's research in the field of AI.This report is based on the author's translation of an excerpt of Life3.0: Being Human in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.In this report,the author firstly introduced the background of the translation project,the text features of the book and the translation process.Then the author analyzed the major and difficult points of this translation project,as well as its cause analysis.The author selected Newmark's communicative theory as the guidance and put forward corresponding strategies to solve the problems in translation process.In terms of lexical level,the translation of terminologies should be handled with referring to referential resources.Words with passive voice can be translated into Chinese active ones.At syntactical level,linear translation,reversing translation,splitting translation and addition were adopted to translate long and complicated sentences.At last,the author summarized the experience in translation,which may provide some suggestions for future popular science translation.
