In recent years,many new science technologies have emerged.AI(Artificial Intelligence)technology is one of such new technologies promoting social development.AI technology has been widely used in some fields like business,medical science,financial and online services.THE AI ADVANTAGE: How to Put the Artificial Intelligence Revolution to Work,is a popular science book,which introduces the latest top artificial intelligence technology in the world.This popular science book is exactly a guide for AI in the direction of commercialization.However,there are few translations of AI technology books in China.The translator has been interested in AI technology.Therefore,the translator selects this book as the source text of the translation task.In this report,the translator uses some examples to analyze the target text under the guidance of Functional Equivalence Theory.In 1993,Eugene A.Nida put forward the Functional Equivalence Theory which includes four aspects: lexical equivalence,syntactic equivalence,textual equivalence and stylistic equivalence.In order to express the meaning and culture characteristics of the source text,the translator uses five translation methods such as the literal translation with explanation,conversion,restructuring,adjustment of word order and the change of voice.On the lexical equivalence level,the translator uses the literal translation with explanation and conversion to translate the source text.On the syntactic equivalence level,the translator prefers to apply the restructuring,adjustment of word order and the change of voice in the translation.In the translation task,the translator gains some translation experiences and learns lots of knowledge of AI technology and translation methods.The translator hopes this translation report could provide some references for future translation studies and practice.
