Since entering the digital era,big data and cloud computing have been highly developed,and all walks of life have paid more and more attention to the value of data.Data literacy has become an important factor affecting the scientific research ability and teaching ability of international Chinese volunteer teachers.This paper investigates and analyzes the status of the data literacy of108 teachers of Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages from four aspects,including data awareness,data skills,data ethics and data demand by using questionnaires and interviews.It also explores the influences from gender,age,service country,education level,discipline,teaching duration and teaching objects on individual data literacy differences.The results show that the average level of data literacy of the participants' is around the medium level;and the mean scores of four data literacy dimensions rank from low to high are data skills,data awareness,data demand and data ethics.And these four dimensions will have a significant positive impact on data literacy.The results of individual data literacy differences showed that,except for the data ethics level of subjects aged 26 years and older was significantly higher than that of subjects aged 25-26 years,the differences in gender,discipline,service country,education level,teaching duration and teaching objects did not reach statistical significance.At the sametime,through the comparison of means,it is found that the data literacy of male interviewees is slightly higher than that of female interviewees,and they also have higher data demands.The data literacy of foreign teachers is slightly higher than that of domestic teachers,among which the data literacy of teachers in American and Asian countries is higher.Respondents with engineering and business backgrounds have higher data literacy and higher data capabilities and data needs in business than in engineering.This paper suggests that universities should attach importance to data literacy education,create data literacy courses and create data culture atmosphere.It is also suggested that international Chinese volunteer teachers cultivate their own data awareness and enhance their ability of data analysis.
