Lexical Study Of She Language In Boluo County

This paper mainly studies the lexicon of She language in Boluo County.First make description of lexical system of She language in Boluo County and its characteristics.And then select the kinship terms with cultural significance of typical ethnic groups and the animal and plant terms with traditional environmental knowledge for special analysis.The lexical system of She language is composed of basic vocabulary and general vocabulary,including words and phrases?including idioms,proverbs,and a two-part allegorical saying?.Most of the basic vocabulary of She language are self-originated words,and some of them are homologous words shared by the Miao and Yao languages.The homologous words of She language and Jiongna which is belong to Miao language are highest.A small part of the basic vocabularies and most of the general vocabularies of She language are borrowed from the Hakka dialect.The new things and concepts in contemporary life are almost borrowed from the Hakka dialect.Some of the original words in She language are also replaced by Hakka dialect.The lexicon of She language generally show the trend of the loss of a large number of inherent words.The analysis of the kinship terms of She language in Boluo shows that the kinship terms of the She ethnic group distinguish patrilineal,matrilineal,generation,seniority,young and old,blood relatives and in-laws.The kinship term morpheme"mie²⁴?mother?"and"ta?³³?son?"have strong word-building ability,reflecting the word-forming principle of"mother is big and boy is small"in some southern minority languages.According to comparison of the kinship terms of She language in Boluo,Huidong,Zengcheng and Haifeng,we also found that there are more matrilineal kinship terms of She language in the Boluo than patrilineal kinship terms.Maternal kinship terms have more inherent components,while patrilineal kinship terms present a situation of borrowing maternal appellation morphemes and combining them with Hakka dialect morphemes.Some even borrow Hakka morpheme completely.This phenomenon of kinship terms implies that the ancestors of the She ethnic group once had a matrilineal social form.The classification and analysis on animal and plant terms of She language in Boluo show that the She language of Boluo lacks animal and plant species categories and general names,but there are rich names of individual animals and plants.The naming rationale of animals and plants of She language is also rich,mostly using onomatopoeia,image,color,character,environment,function to name.From the naming and use of words,we can know the traditional environmental knowledge accumulated by the She ethnic group in understanding the nature and environment in the long-term production and life.
