"Showing Face":The Political Upraise Of Poor Farmers Political

Taking Yantang Village(from Yantian township,Wugang city,Hunan Province)as its research case and basing on materials such as the oral accounts of ten old people and related text documents,this thesis presents the poor farmers evolution paths in aspects of living condition,political awareness,political behaviors,etc.during the three stages of before,during and after the Land Reform.The thesis elaborates poor farmers'political participation and political rights situations during this process.It finds out that poor farmers had gone through the change of "heads down","showing face" and "heads up",with their political status rising rapidly.This Thesis also further discusses that as collectivization advances,poor farmers free space was gradually squeezed,displaying the state of "drop-head".This thesis holds that it's undeniable that the Land Reform Movement during the early days of New China had rapidly raised the political status of poor farmers,but that was only a "showing face" in a time when they were needed.As collectivization advances,poor farmers naturally retired to a certain comer of the society,which was because of the special characteristics of small farmer's in themselves.By discussing the evolution process of the political status of poor farmers during the Land Reform and analyzing poor farmers' political participation and political rights situations during this process,this thesis revels that the change of political status of poor farmers are majorly influenced by the two factors of external macroscopic environment(mainly refers to the implementation of mass movement)and internal self-characteristics(mainly include conservatism,equalitarianism,calculating rationalism).
