Action Research On Volunteers’ Ability Construction Of Breast Cancer Patients

With the increasing of breast cancer patients and the changing of the medical mode,the concern for breast cancer patients has expanded from the extension of life to the improvement of quality of life,which requires family,community,professionals,patients and others to take part in.Breast cancer is a unique life experience,and only people with same experience could feel the pressure and the pain that the patients are facing and encountering.Therefore,the patient support plays a special and important role in improving quality of life.But there are many problems when the volunteers are providing services to patients that they have not achieve the expected effect.Based on the Iceberg Model,the author carry out the investigation to find the problems of the volunteers’ service process.And in order to solve these problems,this paper used the theory of empowerment to carry out ability construction for volunteers via the individual level and the interpersonal level and the author discussed how to enhance empower at the political level.On the individual level,the author used different methods to promote the volunteers’ ability of volunteer service mainly include providing training,learning,demonstrate services,volunteer services,supervision and evaluation for the volunteers to let them feel that they have the ability to influence the others and solve problems.And on the interpersonal level,the volunteers would improve self-image and value by coexistence with others and internal collaboration.So the author tried to set up the volunteer team,develop the focus group which would help volunteers to agree on concentration issues,carry out mutual cooperation in volunteer service and enhance the cooperation with other volunteer teams.Through the action research,the author finds out the volunteers’ ability have obviously changed.The volunteers have improved the knowledge skill,understood their own role position,deepen acknowledge the self-quality and their temperament type,promoted the self-worth and enhanced the motivation of success.The author also finds out that the key ability of volunteers is the role positioning,the most effective way to construct volunteers’ ability is to provide the demonstration service that emphasizes participation of volunteer,the crucial factor to affect the effect of the service is the match between the volunteer and the patient.Meanwhile,the promoting of volunteers’ability is a spiral development process.
