A Comparative Research On The Thoughts Of International Society And Confucian Universe

At present,the main research paradigm of the theory of international relationship lays in Realism,Neo-Liberalism and Constructivism.In fact,the three theories are in the main theory of American international relationship.In reality,the research of international relationship mainly follows the academic of America and ignore the other theory.English School can be called International Society Theory,which gradually growed in England after the Second World War and became a particular theory in international relationship area.Chinese research in English School started latter and lacked the comparable research with other thought,although some academic books have already appeared.On the other hand,China should absorb nutrition from historical experiment and in this respect Confucian Universe can be called a kind of representative.The thought of Confucian Universe is main thought in ancient China,which grow the concept of political ethics from the mean of geographical aspect,which also have deep respect in the sequence of dynasty,the relationship between Hua and Yi and the form of diplomacy in ancient China.It can be said that this view form in the 2000 years' diplomatic history in China.The view in this article think that there is many similar aspects between International Society and Confucian Universe.Firstly,both theories of International Society and Confucian Universe regard sequence as the main goal and admit the fact of the lack of sequence in reality,which is the point that both theory started to deepen research.When the two theory pursue the sequence,they both regard world sequence as the highest goal and agree that the world sequence have more superiority in moral aspect that other sequence in other aspects.But they also have difference.English School pay more attention to the built and preservation of international sequence at the sake of Bull's denying of the existence of world society.But Confucian Universe didn't choose to pursue the subordinate sequence in the reason of the lack of sequence of Confucian Universe,and they still insist in it.Apart from sequence,both theory also regard justice as the main goal that should be pursued and both agree that the sequence and the justice have the aspect of coordination.But when the struggle between justice andsequence happened,two theories' view will be different.In general,the theory of International Theory stress the superiority of sequence,although the scholar of English School pay more and more attention to the importance of justice.Confucian Universe always regarded just as higher goal,and they thought that only the sequence that conform with justice can be pursued and preserved.Secondly,both theories regard the sequence building as the goal that should be achieved.But,in the fundamental aspect of sequence building,there is certain difference in two theories.The theory of International Society thinks that there is not the highest government over countries so that international system lays in the state of non-government.But at the sake of common behalf,adopting common principle and institution,so it is possible to construct sequence.At opposite,Confucian Universe thinks that there is world government,at least in existence.The existence of world government is fundamental demand of sequence building.At the same time,in the whole world the common recognition and norm are limited if there is not absent.The reason that cause the differences that in these two theory,there is difference in the constructive elements and the form of interact among elements.In the theory of International Society,state play the main role in system and the form of interact is guided by the culture.In the thought of Confucian Universe,the fundamental element of system is cultural community represented by Hua and Yi,in which there exist some feature that express the subordination.Interaction among elements have certain difference with it in International Society theory.Thirdly,in the aspect of the approach of constructing sequence,there is many similarity between two thoughts.At first,they advocate to build sequence by some institution and norm;second,they both stress the importance that the relationship between morality and power should be well solved and make good use of their utility to construct sequence.At last,they both think that the main mean in expansion of cultural recognition have great meaning in realizing sequence,especially in the aspect of the expansion of international society and the preservation of the sequence of Hua and Yi.Lastly,we should comment two theories.The goal of both theories is realizing sequence,in which Confucian Universe had been practiced,however,the thought of international society mainly express the state of international relations.In fact,nomatter the expression of international relationship in the thought of international society and the sequence guided by the thought of Confucian Universe,they both have their possibility and certainty and they also have their defect,which make the critic of both theories.The common reason lays in the cultural centralism,which leads to the appearance of their own defect.Therefore,we should now overcome the inherent defect of these two theories and make good use of them to uphold theory's development and to lead the practice well.
