| The recent crisis in the Union of the Comoros has long-time observers rolling their eyes as the country experiences yet another political break-down.Tanzania has been playing its level best to stabilize Comoro and create a peaceful neighbor which is quite instrumental in realizing its long term development goals.Tanzania‘s peace building efforts in Comoros which springs from its goal to safeguard its national interest focuses on dismantling the Operation of Democracy.On the one hand and capacitating the Comoros government and mobilizing the Comoros people towards peace building.This multi-purpose peace building effort enabled Tanzania achieve popular acceptance in Comoros which in turn is crux in stabilizing the country.Basically this paper it contain the research questions where the researcher made to shows the contribution of Tanzania in ensuring peace and stability in Comoros as a tools of analysis for understanding the situation.The questions are categorically in to main research question which demand to know ?what role Tanzania has played in ensuring peace and security in Comoro conflict resolution,and another questions are recognized as Additional/specific research Question which focus to know ?why Tanzania involved in Comoros crises?And the last was to spell out?what the achievements and challenges of Tanzania involvement of Comoros conflict resolution?.Not only this but also the answers of these questions were path through the chapters.Where the first chapters deal with introduction,which deals with introductory part of the study which in turn consists of the research proposal and review of literatures which in turn consists of research background,methodology,research questions,and review of literatures.On the other hand,while the next chapter talks about the heading of the state of Comoros which consists of the cause of the conflict,the effect of the Comoros conflict on the region of Africa as elaborated on the background of information of Comoros,since Comoros has been described by media commentators as the ?archipelago of instability‘ due to the frequency of military coups,counter-coups and mercenary interventions.The country has experienced more than 20 military coups since independence from France in 1975.The cause of the Comoros conflict actually are divided in Political factors,which shows the disagreement among the island concerning the either to remain of not in France colony,also poor governance and mismanagement of state governing institutions,together democratic change that swept the globe following the end of the Cold War also affected Comoros.Without forget secessionist rebellion led to a new wave of political violence and a further military coup by the Army Chief of Staff,the illegal authorities of Anjouandecision is not comfortable the satisfaction of union of Comoros,than Seemed that Luck of democratic practices and absence of viable political institutions are contributed the situation of Comoros.Either concerning the Socio-economic factors as another cause of conflict,due to rhetoric of secession and self-determination,the Comoros conflict is primarily rooted in questions of contested island identities,wealth sharing and control over state power,and controls most of the international trade and customs revenue.Also the destination for illegal immigrants from Comoros and other neighboring countriesinfluence the conflict as well as political culture of nepotism and corruption.The crises of Comorossince it happen it influences the effects to the peoples of Comoros and African even the world due to have share in word market,these effect such as suffering of Comorian,Decrease economy of Comoros and foreign aid,increased the animosity between the three islands,resistance to change,underdevelopment of Comoros and African,continuing political instability in Comoros there presents opportunities for terrorist organizations,Collapse the Government project and expenditure and international relation as well as the violation of human right.Basically in the effort of make sure the Comoros conflict it will be solved appropriately the Relative Actors involvement in peacemaking process in Comoros conflict was inevitable due to the terrible of illegal authority and their power.So through the cooperation of differentmembers leaded by Tanzania under the African union they have been helped the Comorian government to act according the democratic changes in world and improve the economy which was lost for long time,The United States has a clear interest as the relative actor in preventing the Comoros from becoming an attractive place of refuge for wanted terrorists such as Fazul.The Comorian government is on record as being eager to cooperate with U.S.and UN anti-terrorist efforts.France in its turn,was not interested in such a solution,but the separatist movement still used Mayotte as its base from which to launch its activities,and South African government was given support from the Comoros in the fight against anti-apartheid movements,than African union under the leadership of Tanzania have much shared by emphasizedon support the efforts being deployed by the Comorian authorities.Chapter three of this thesis emphasizes on the reasons and mechanisms used for Tanzania involvement in Comoros conflict resolution of African region,which has been unstable for more than three decades and because of theSecurity concerns which concentrated on unconstitutional changes,political instability and absence of democracy in Anjouan where the strongman Mohammed Bacar,he had ruled Anjouan legally and illegally,another reason was Geo-political consideration which based on neighboring countries,security policy,illegal authorities in Anjouan which resist the military intervention.And maintainingsecurity to the IndianOcean boulder where the Comoros and Tanzania available as connected on the African union members.Hence Tanzania in manage the crisis of Comoros,applied a variety of Mechanisms for reach the solution such as,facilitation and mediation,coercive or diplomatic pressure by Western powers,African states and regional forums and economic sanctions,observer missions and military intervention and supervision of agreement these tools it help to simplify the tasks.Chapter four deals with the achievements and challenges which Tanzania has been facing in stabilize peace and security in Comoro.Tanzania has played a major role in supporting AU‘s peace and security activities,the achievement can be measured by prevailing relative peace and stability to the Comoros people in particular and stability of the Africa region in general.It contribute on promote democratic principles and institutions,popular participation and good governance in Comoros,supporting the peaceful mission,establish the necessary conditions which enable the Comoros to play its rightful role in the global economy and in international negotiations,promote peace,security,and stability on the continent and good image for Tanzania.Since Tanzania intervened in Comoros to defend its national interest against operation of democracy and political instability as a country could faced some challenges,including time management constrain,Conflict of interest,luck of enough Technical expertise and financial resources,dividing among member states and to include the Poor support from Anjouanauthority.Chapter five as the last chapter of this thesis it regarded the conclusion and some recommendation,in this part it mention brief the relative actor and Tanzaniacontribution of promoting peace in Comoros,some challenges faced and the achievement as well as mechanism used for involvement.And lastly it has been flowered some recommendations as filling the gap in this paper,by showing unity and solidarity than the importance of constitutional changing. |
