Four Faces Of Democratic Representation

In the political system,democratic representation is an ideal,but also a degree of democracy.As the combination of democracy and representation,it sustains the desire for ideal politics.But reality of politics is complicated,for the needs of theoretical analysis,democratic representation can be divided into four faces,namely procedure,target,action and recognition.The four faces of democratic representation are interrelated.The procedure face is the foundation,it is the starting point to establish a democratic representative relationship.The procedure of democratic representation is concerned with formal Institutional arrangements,democratic representation should accept the strict authorization and accountability to ensure the establishment and completion of representative relations.The target face is the core essence of the democratic representation,it is related to the value of democratic representation to pursue and essential task.The target face of democratic representation pay attention to democratic ideals and realistic duties,it requires that democratic representation should do advocate democratic values and protect the interests of the people,in order to achieve the dual goals of democracy.The action and the recognition of democratic representation are two ways to achieve the target respectively from two aspects to promote the realization of representative goals.The action face focus on function and behavior of democratic representation.In order to achieve the goal,democratic representation should make a difference,including aggregating and responding to public opinion,political participation,democratic deliberation and negotiation.The recognition face focus on external feature,experience and internal psychology of the represented.Democratic representation need to match with the represented precisely or to win their loyalty and trusts as much as possible.Four faces of democratic representation are the need of theoretical analysis,and the result of theoretical abstraction.But it may deviate from reality.Because,in reality,there are many different combinations of democratic representation,the democratic representation we are talking about is just one of the most ideal one.We broke the boundaries of the existing representative type of either this or that to try to understand the core essence of democratic representation.
