For a long time,Thai politics has always been a male-dominated field.Because of the division of gender characteristics in traditional culture,it is difficult for women to participate in the practice of power politics and become bystanders in Thai politics. Moreover, under the influence of the traditional cultural concept, the social status of women is extremely low.It is not only excludes women from participating in political matters, but also restricts women's participation in public affairs. After the constitutional revolution,Thailand realized the transition from an absolute monarchy to a constitutional monarchy, and a series of policies of the new government has promoted the rapid development of women's participation in politics. In addition, encouraged by the international feminist movement and the United Nations' promotion,Thai women further raised the demand for gender equality and protection of rights to the government. In the 1990s,Thailand entered a period of democratic transformation.During this period, the political environment was relatively relaxed, and the media were relatively free. This provided a good social foundation for women to fight for their rights and interests.Active women's organizations and women's movements promoted the expansion of Thai women's participation in politics. On the one hand, women are no longer confined to the field of traditional women's problems, and also to some extent focus on the field of traditional men's expertise. On the other hand, women's organized and orderly promoted the healthy development of Thai politics, their outstanding performance in politics also won the people's recognition and support. In addition, women have further promoted the realization of gender equality, the protection of women's rights related to the legal system, and also promote the scientific, democratic, and judicial development of Thai legislation. There has there characteristics in Thai women's political participation:firstly, the progress of political participation is slow.Despite the fact that Thai women were granted the right to vote early, the process of political participation was late.Although the number of people participating in politics was on the rise, but the overall proportion of elected members of parliament remained low and the rate of growth was still slowly. The second characteristic is the low level of participation of Thai women in politics. They are difficult to participate in the high-level political areas, which is often caused by the ceiling of the workplace.Thirdly,Thai women's participation in politics has a certain degree of indirectness. They often choose to participate indirectly because of their difficulty in directly participating in politics.Through their indirect participation, they can not only establish a good image for male politicians in the family, but also form a close political union. These characteristics are closely related to the limitations of Thai political culture and values on women's participation in politics, and the social public's demands on women in politics are higher than men at the moral, rule and personal levels. In response to these characteristics and limitations, the author has several theoretical considerations on promoting women's participation in politics:to promote the legal system for women's participation in politics;to improve women's own quality and ability to participate in politics;and given full play to the beneficial role of women's organizations. After fully understanding the performance, characteristics, obstacles and favorable factors of Thai women's participation in politics,we can predict that more women will appear in the political field in the future and contribute to the prosperity and development of the country.
