Fabian socialism was an important part of all kinds of socialist thoughts in the early 1930s.From the social background and its discourse system,many aspects are contrary to the scientific socialism and obviously have the characteristics of the bourgeoisie,but from the principle of its heavy democracy and light violence,the socialism has the characteristics of democratic socialism.Its main features are to advocate the improvement,oppose the revolution,pay attention to the propaganda and education,and attempt to permeate all classes,ranks and parties with socialist ideology,and make use of the capitalist democratic system to realize the gradual transformation from capitalism to socialism.It can be seen that Fabian socialism is not satisfied with the traditional capitalist system.It is not entirely a spokesperson for capitalism.It reflects the demands of the middle class,especially the intellectuals in the British society who required to eliminate the unethical phenomena of the capitalist society and achieve he socialist goal.The origin of Fabian socialism is rather complicated,and indeed there are elements of Marx doctrine.But in theory,there is a great separation from Marx's theory,that is,the socialist interpretation of Fabian socialism is mainly a kind of gradual and moderate social change,and Marx's argument is the necessity of solving social basic contradictions in the class struggle under the specific time background.The Fabian socialism is a theory of development.In the early days,the Fabian Society opposed Marx's theory of the proletarian class struggle and the socialist revolution,and advocated social improvement.It did not regard the working class as a representative of the advanced productive forces,and adopted the "infiltration" strategy attached to the Party of the order of order of assets in practice.But later,the Fabian Society changed the attitude towards the working class,gave up the strategy of "infiltrating" the Liberal Party,and showed a more progressive attitude on the problem of national colonies.Although Fabian socialism once swept the world,but it is only "socialism with British characteristics",it is only the product of the special stage of the development of British capitalism,and its historical limitations determine its historical fate.
