Tunisia is located in the northernmost part of the African continent and is a key element of the east-west shipping industry in the Mediterranean,the geographical location is very important.Tunisian left-wing parties is an important part of the Arab left wing forces,and have a long history.In the struggle against colonialism and feudalism,the national consciousness of the Tunisian people gradually awakened.Since the late 19th century and the early 20th century,Tunisian left-wing parties have been established.In the process of transition to democratization,Tunisia experienced a transition from a one-party system to a multi-party system.But in essence,The multi-party system implemented by the Bourguiba government and Ben Ali government is still a one-party dictatorship,the political participation rights of other political parties,including left-wing parties,have not been substantially guaranteed.After the jasmine revolution,Ben Ali regime was overthrown,the opposition parties were given legal status,the left-wing parties began to rise,and gradually developing into one of the most important political forces in Tunisian politics.Taken together,although the power of the left-wing parties always active in the political scene of Tunisia,the Tunisian political map is complex and changeable,as each one leaves,another takes the stage.It is essentially the product of two-way combination,which are the good growing soil of left-wing parties and the immaturity of left-wing party politics under the complicated challenges at home and abroad,inside and outside the party.Summarizing the development of the Tunisian left-wing parties and their participation in politics will help deepen the understanding of Tunisian party politics and political transformation.This article focuses on the evolution of Tunisian left-wing parties,discusses the social and historical condition,the ideological foundation,and the class basis of left-wing parties,sorts out their development history,that is,the period of slow development before the middle of 19.50s,the period of one-party dictatorship of the Socialist Constitutional Party from 1957 to 1981,the period of limited development under the multi-party system from 1981 to the end of 2010,and the period of rejuvenation since the end of 2010;Then,discusses the political participation of left-wing parties,including the performance of left-wing parties in the political elections,the governance practice of left-wing parties,and the main approaches of left-wing parties participating in political affairs;Analyzes the new changes of the Tunisian left-wing parties after the Jasmine Revolution,including in the political program,the way of activities,the internal relations of the left-wing parties,and the relations with other political parties and political organizations;On this basis,reviews and forecasts the status and trends of Tunisian left-wing parties in Tunisian party politics and political transition.
