Research On Technological Innovation Of Chinese Diamond Bit Based On Patent Analysis

Passed through 100 years development,diamond bit technology has been widely used in exploration and development of oil and gas,engineering investigation,civil architecture and other fields at present.USA is a world leader in diamond bit technology,and the diamond bit technology in USA has matured now after rapid developing period 1998-2003 and 2007-2008.China started late in diamond bit technology.From first natural surface-set diamond bit successfully developed by Geological Exploration Institute using infiltration process with cold pressing in 1963 starts,diamond bit technology in China has gone through a journey of 50 years and has made great progress.However,by contrasting US and Chinese patent documentation of diamond bit,it needs great improvement for domestic diamond bit technology.The thesis focuses on the development tendency of diamond bit patent technology,the develop priorities of correlative patent technique and competitors between US and Chinese oil bit companies with the key point of searching and analyzing the published US and Chinese patent concerned and uses the research methods of patent retrieval,qualitative and quantitative analysis of patent literature and contrast in US and Chinese patent technologies to help the domestic oil bit enterprises get a comprehensive and objective understanding of diamond bit technology and competitive environment and compete better in the international market.Compared with the US diamond bit patent literature,there still have a certain gap between Chinese diamond bit technology and US.The major differences lie in design philosophy,internal quality of bits,and manufacture technology.Based this case,the thesis points out the directions for research and development of the said technology and IP strategies of Chinese diamond bit industry to help domestic diamond bit technology surpasses foreign diamond bit technology and products,represented by the USA.
