As the basis of the people's democratic dictatorship, the alliance of workers and peasants plays a significant role in the political life of new China. In the early years of new China, the Chinese Communist Party gradually explored ways to consolidate the alliance of workers and peasants,in accordance with the stable needs of the new regime and the demands of the state to restore and develop the economy.Based on this, this thesis focuses on the practice of consolidating the worker-peasant alliance in the early years of the People's Republic of China. It mainly explores the reasons for the consolidation of the practices promoted by the Chinese Communist Party and the concrete ways, methods, and strategies for the consolidation of practical activities during the period of 1951-1954.This thesis follows the vertical historical dimension from the three levels:the reasons and background for the consolidation of the practice of the worker-peasant alliance, the early exploration of the consolidation practice in 1949-1953,and the maturity of practice in 1954.This thesis aims to discuss how to implement the revolutionary tradition and how to present the tension in the concrete political environment in the transitional period.Specifically, chapter 1 begins with a brief explanation of the status of urban and rural areas and workers and peasants during the early years of the founding of the CCP,revealing the lack of effective governance and the complex state of the workers and peasants at the time.It is thus pointed out that the consolidation of the worker-peasant alliance has largely been seen as a method for the CCP to mitigate these issues. The second chapter, through combing the experience materials from 1949 to 1953,concludes that the consolidation practice in the early days of the CCP was broadly divided into two types: daily practice and campaign-style practice.Taking the 1951 North China Urban-Rural Material Exchange Exhibition as the main example of the campaign-style practice,it is believed that this kind of consolidation practice can be beneficial to the improvement of the CPC's governance effectiveness to a certain extent, and it is also helpful to strengthen the recognition of the workers and peasants on the alliance of workers and peasants. The third chapter investigates the cases of interaction between workers and peasants in Chongqing,Sichuan and Hunan during the spring festival of 1954,and concludes that the CCP consolidates the worker-peasant alliance mainly through face-to-face interaction and non-face-to-face interaction. Moreover, during this process, the CCP organized the practice of the worker-peasant alliance more systematically and gradually made it more routine and standardized as the situation of workers and peasants changed. Finally, the thesis concludes that, the consolidation practice promoted by the CCP is mainly to establish the recognition of the workers and peasants on the regime of the New China in order to achieve the purpose of building the legitimacy of the regime. In general, the practice of consolidating the worker-peasant alliance in the early years of new China is essentially a process of building the legitimacy of a regime.
