Digital Generation Gap Of Chinese Family Under The Background Of Aging

In the era of aging and digitization,the digital integration of older people is gradually being recognized by the entire society.It seems to be an inevitable trend that the technology changes drastically.The face of high-speed development and changing media technologies,older people appear to be more and more “useless” when face to high-speed development of media technologies.Then the weakness in digital technology and ideas will cause intergenerational gaps or conflicts.This study regard elderly people's digital integration as entry point,explores factors that affect the elderly's digital integration.And then examine if the family relationship will influence digital generation gap among different generations of families.This research adopts the method of questionnaire survey to investigate families from systematic sampling,hoping to reflect the national situation through the survey results.Finally,3,174 questionnaires were collected in total,including ancestors,fathers,and children in the same family.This study innovatively draws lessons from the measure of the digital divide in economics,and designs the “Digital Literacy Index” to more intuitively describe the elder's degree of integration into the digital society.Quantitative data show that Demographic characteristics,physical & psychological characteristics and perception characteristics will have a significant impact on the digital integration of the elderly.The digital generation divide at the family level is also affected by the personal factors of two generations.The family relationship will also impact intergenerational digital divide.This author believes that we should stand in the perspective of the elderly to study the issue of digital generation gap.We shouldn't judge with incorrect value to reflect the difference in digital integration between the elderly and the young in the digital age.As the main surviving place of human,utilizing family relationship examine the digital generation will led to a more azimuth angle to explore the methods and approaches to bridge the digital generation gap.
