Dating from the beginning of the birth,media,on account of its political function,has been closely connected with politics and gradually become an vital way to promote the image of nation and government.Because of the special political position of state leaders,they are especially significant to represent the national image.With fast development of new media,a growing number of information related to state leaders can be seen everyday by different ways.Since18 th CPC National Congress,the leadership treating Xi Jinping as the core,has taken plenty of measures to change the current situations,especially in the concepts and methods of promoting,which is to show the image of the leaders with international standards via using the way accepted by most people.New media,as a way to shape and promote national leader images,had been brought into focus.Thus,under such background,the research about this issue is necessary and meaningful.Based on the Agenda-setting Theory,this essay will focus on shaping and promoting national leader images in the perspective of new media,using the relevant knowledge of Journalism and Communication.On the basis of the definition of relevant concepts,the author takes the new media as a breakthrough point to the influence of the construction and dissemination of the image of the country's leaders.The author focuses on the analysis of the content of the research sample.The author chooses samples,the reports related to Chairman Xi Jinping in the People's Network,as the research targets to discuss how to find a better way to do it,so as to put forward some rational suggestion about it.This thesis is divided into five parts.As the first part,the introduction mainly includes the background,value,and methods of the research and the literature review.The second part will discuss the effect of the new media about shaping and promoting the national leaders images.The third and fourth parts,as the core of this essay,will analyse the these reports in detail based on the form,category,purpose and space,in order to conclude four ways to shape the image of Chairman Xi Jinping in the People's Network.At the same time,analyse thestrategies used by People's Network according to exploring some samples.The last part is to conclude the effective methods to shape and promote national leader images.
