The Political Cognition Of Huangyan Island:

In recent years,disputes over islands and reefs have become a hot issue.Especially in the South China Sea Arbitration Case between China and the Philippines and the South China Sea,disputes over the definition of islands and reefs in Huangyan have highlighted the importance of islands to the ownership of a country's rights and interests.The definition of islands and reefs is endowed with different marine rights and interests in the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.Islands have more rights and interests in territorial waters,exclusive economic zones and continental shelf rights.This paper studies the political cognition of Huangyan Island from multiple perspectives,which is conducive to broadening the perspective of ocean research,especially on island disputes,and safeguarding China's marine rights and interests in the South China Sea.This paper studies the political cognition of Huangyan Island through literature research,case analysis and field research.This paper analyses the ambiguity and irrationality of the definition of Huangyan Islands and Reefs in the "China-Philippines South China Sea Arbitration Case" and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.Based on interviews with Tanmen Town and Tanmen fishermen on the spot,it makes a field survey of Tanmen fishermen's production and lifestyle,marine culture and the thinner road from the perspective of the formation process of political cognition.It demonstrates the rationality of the identification of Huangyan Island.Finally,the Enlightenment of Tanmen fishermen's investigation on Huangyan Island's political awareness is analyzed,and the measures and suggestions for strengthening international political awareness of Huangyan Island are put forward.The main conclusions are as follows:Firstly,although the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea gives different definitions and maritime rights to islands and reefs,the definition of reefs is not clear and perfect.It is unreasonable to define Huangyan Island as a reef in the South China Sea Arbitration Case between China and the Philippines.Second,through the Tanmen fishermen's life and production methods,unique fishing methods and "more thin" to define the island location of Huangyan Island.Thirdly,China should enhance the political awareness of Huangyan Island in the international arena,actively publicize Tanmen fishermen's mode of production and operation,history of cultivating the sea,marine culture and so on,and consolidate the traditional marine fisheries of Tanmen fishermen.Provide the basis of political cognition of Huangyan Island from the perspective of facts.Fourthly,due to the lack of strong voice in international ocean affairs,China strengthens its control over Huangyan Island and forms a normal system of discourse game with major powers in the United States and other regions to provide political recognition of Huangyan Island in international ocean political discourse.
