The term"left-behind junior high student"has evolved from the term"left-behind children".It refers to an older left-behind child who is a junior high student aged 13 to 15.As the academia is now carrying out more in-depth studies on the issue of left-behind children,left-behind junior high students,as a special group,are drawing more attention.With the rapid development of information technology,parents and teachers rely more on internet communication tools such as WeChat and QQ to educate the left-behind students due to the prevalence of internet-based and information-based education model both at home and at school.This trend,however,gives rise to the problem of internet addiction among junior high students as those students have no idea of how to properly utilize those internet tools.Although the academia has paid much attention to internet addition problems among junior high students,limited study has been conducted on internet addition problems among left-behind junior high students,not to mention studies conducted from social work perspectives.Study on internet addiction problems among left-behind junior high students may help achieve the following objectives:further understand the impact of left-behind life on the physical and mental health of the left-behind children and thereby offering more information for left-behind children study and investigation carried out in the fixture;help enhance the theoretical accumulation and real practice of social work in the area of left-behind children and left-behind junior high students,and increase application of social support theories in real social work:;alert junior high students to the problems of internet addiction;raise more awareness in the community of-the problem of internet addiction among junior high students;facilitate further study on behavior patterns of left-behind junior high students in rural areas through the perspective of social work practice.By drawing on the investigation carried out by the author at a rural high school in Songbu town,Pingyang county,Wenzhou,Zhejiang,the article looks at the major channels through which the left-behind junior high students access internet and the contents they may obtain from the internet.With the application of social support theory and from the angles of individual,family,school and society,the article explores the reasons why rural left-behind junior high students may develop internet addiction problems.On the basis of the social support theory perspective,a casework model featuring "individual-family-school" is created with a view to conducting study on internet addiction problems among rural left-behind junior high students and related social work.Conclusion:1.An "individual-family-school"casework model built from social support theory perspective has sound comprehensive intervention effects on internet addiction problems among rural left-behind junior high students;2.Social workers should pay more attention to the issue of "left-behind" when carrying out comprehensive intervention work.
