Political Connection,Mission And Donation In Social Organizations

Political connections often bring two distinct effects,positive and negative,to the enterprise.And the universality of political connections in the field of social organization makes the issue of how political connections affect social organizations has become a new research hotspot.The logical starting point for social organizations to establish political connections should be treated differently.The government is necessary to control social organizations,and social organizations are dependent on government resources.As in the field of corporate governance,there is no final conclusion on the effects of political connections on social organizations.Based on the dilemma of insufficient donation,this paper attempts to answer the following questions:how does political connection affect donation?Does it bring a supporting effect' or a 'predatory effect'?What role does the mission play in it?This paper introduces political connections into the field of social organization.Taking China's 200 public welfare foundations in 2011-2015 as a research sample,it empirically tests the impact of political connections on donations.The empirical results are as follows.(1)The political connection of social organizations will directly negatively affect the social donation of the organization,and squeeze the space for social organizations to obtain donation from enterprises and individuals.(2)The mission has a mediating effect on the influence of political connections on donation.On the one hand,political connections negatively affect the amount of donations;on the other hand,the inefficient operation of social organizations due to political connections can result in deviations from missions,thereby reducing the amount of donations.(3)Political connections help social organizations obtain government subsidies,but the decline in total income suggests that limited government subsidies do not fully offset the negative effects of political connections on donations.Based on the research conclusions,this paper gives management suggestions from the aspects of social organization personnel appointment,organizational self-construction,supervision system and optimization of financing channels and processes.
