Research On The Legalization Of Euthanasia In China From Ethical Perspective

The legalization of euthanasia is a realistic problem discussed in the medical field,legal field and ethical field.According to the theoretical research and practice in China and foreign countries,the legalization of euthanasia has become an inevitable trend.However,ethical support is still an inevitable part before euthanasia can realize legalization and enter the process design.The legalization of euthanasia in China is faced with many ethical issues.“Death” is not the purpose of euthanasia.Instead,the real purpose of euthanasia is to relieve the suffering of the patients.Euthanasia is only an unconventional way to reach such relief.This paper will sort out the views of supporting and opposing euthanasia,and focus on the main ethical issues facing the legalization of euthanasia,to analyze the ethical rationality of legalization of euthanasia.Firstly,the life can be divided into three stages: birth,survival,and death.Death is the last stage of our life,which also requires dignity like other stages throughout the life.So when suffering the long-lasting pain which is hopeless to be cured,people should have the right to choose euthanasia.Secondly,in spite of the rationality of euthanasia from the utilitarian perspective,the patients are likely to suffer "moral kidnapping",which will cause "moral corruption" of the participants in the euthanasia.So the people who will get the "maximum profit" can only be the patient himself,and euthanasia legalization should ensure the decision is made in accordance with the real willingness of the patient.Thirdly,with the development of science and technology,modern culture has greatly abandoned some traditional concepts.Modern medical ethics and modern filial piety have gained new connotations on the basis of traditional meaning,which will provide further ethical support for“euthanasia”.The analysis of the ethical problems faced by euthanasia,it is found that the legalization of euthanasia is inevitable and feasible in China.The increasing appeals for legalization of euthanasia and the existence of potential euthanasia behaviors indicate that the legalization of euthanasia cannot be ignored in China,and legalization of euthanasia is an inevitable trend.The more rational perception of death and the overall progress of society have made it possiblefor the implementation of euthanasia in our country.The analysis of the legalization process of euthanasia abroad has played a reference role in the promotion of legalization of euthanasia in China,and provided support for the feasibility of legalization of euthanasia in China.From the perspective of ethics,this paper will put forward reasonable suggestions for the legalization of euthanasia in China: First,it advocates the education of modern death concept and the cultivation of moral literacy of euthanasia participants to foster a social consensus on the legalization of euthanasia,and on this basis,to promote the theoretical support of law,and finally to realize the legislation.Second,it proposes suggestions for the process of application,review,implementation,and supervision of euthanasia.Euthanasia is individually specific,so the rationality of morality should be fully considered in the design of the program.
