The Nature,theoretical Claims And Practical Struggles Of The World Peace Council

Founded in 1950,the World Peace Council is a world peace movement organization that has undergone 69 years of bumpy development.During the Cold War,world peace was instrumentalized and used by the Soviet Union for political propaganda.In 1991,the World Peace Council developed into a small organization with only a few staff members and entered the bottom of development.After the drastic change of Soviet Union and Eastern Europe,the World Peace Council developed into an anti-imperialist,international mass movement organization that advocated universal disarmament,democracy,independence,and peaceful coexistence.So far,the World Peace Council has also insisted on some propositions that are conducive to peace during the Cold War.It insists on the guidance of "peace is everyone's business" and has been conducting theoretical exploration and practice of development peace to a certain extent.On the basis of sorting out the development process of the World Peace Council,this article further discusses the nature.theoretical claims and practical struggles of the World Peace Council before and after the Drastic Changes in Soviet Union and East Europe,and attempts to evaluate the future development of the World Peace Council.In the first chapter,the historical development of the World Peace Council was sorted out,and the development of the World Peace Council was described in three stages:the rapid rise(1950-1957)and the decline(1958-1991).Slow recovery period(1992-present).The second chapter mainly expounds that the World Peace Council became the tools of the Soviet Union's foreign policy during the Cold War.The World Peace Council promoted centered on the Soviet Union,adopted the double standards that benefit the Soviet Union in the struggle.It's organization was strictly controlled by the Soviet Union.The foreign relations followed the Soviet foreign policy.Before the drastic changes in the Soviet Union and East Europe,although the World Peace Council was instrumentalized,it still proposed some useful proposition to promote world peace,such as:resolve international conflicts with the peaceful resolution;promote the economic development of all countries;develop youth education with multi-faceted ways;women should have equal status and the opportunity to participate in public life.At the same time,the World Peace Council has carried out practical activities to promote peace against the arms race,promote national liberation movements in third world countries,and strengthen cultural exchanges between countries.The third chapter mainly introduces the adjustment of the World Peace Council after the drastic changes in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe.The World Peace Council focusing on the interests of the people of the world,running with a democratic way,openning to others,and has become an international mass movement organization.The World Peace Council have explored how to fight for peace in the era of globalization,and put forward proposals on sovereign interference,economy,human rights,and ideology,and carried out practice struggles such as mobilize the masses,oppose NATO,and support the people,and strengthen cooperation with other organizations.Finally,the challenges facing the World Peace Council are discussed.
