Power Interaction And Political Diversion

After the Zhongshan Warship Incident,the power structure of the Kuomintang Central Committee changed.Before and after the Northern Expedition,the military dictatorship system had been initially established.The Kuomintang Left Party and the Communist Party believe that since the reorganization of the Kuomintang in 1924,the fundamental power system of governing the country by the Party and the army by the Party has been distorted and destroyed by Chiang Kai-shek's holding party power by the military power.In order to rebuild the Kuomintang's party governance system,the Kuomintang left and the Communist Party have been making efforts to "restore party power" since the rise of the Northern Expedition.From the rise of the "Ying Wang Rehabilitation" movement to the convening of joint meetings of the central and provincial governments,and then to the establishment of the Wuhan Provisional Joint Conference from the end of 1926 to the beginning of 1927,the movement of "restoring party power" with the Kuomintang left as the main body gradually entered a substantive stage.This movement aimed at rebuilding the authority of the Party Central Committee,restricting,striking and even depriving Chiang Kai-shek of his personal military dictatorship not only caused the sharp differentiation within the Kuomintang,but also had a direct and far-reaching impact on the political trend and the evolution of relations between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party.This movement is not only intertwined with the contest between the party power and the military power,the opposition and conflict between the Kuomintang Rightists and the Communist Party,but also mixed with the struggle for power and interests within the Kuomintang.In March 1927,the Third Plenary Session of the Second Central Committee,with the Kuomintang Left as the main body,was held in Hankou.The General Assembly substantially weakened Chiang Kai-shek's power in the form of conference resolutions and pushed the"restoration of Party power" movement to a climax.When the power confrontation created by the movement of "restoring party power" came into being,the power conflict originating from "internal" eventually evolved into a large-scale "anti-Communist"movement,which directly led to the breakdown of the first Kuomintang-Communist cooperation and the failure of the Great Revolution.This paper attempts to focus on the two-way interactive power game behind the "restoration of Party power" movement,and to make a comprehensive investigation of the contradictions and conflicts between the parties from a dynamic perspective,so as to reveal how the contradictions in the power interaction escalated step by step,and try to find the deep reasons for the breakdown of Kuomintang-Communist cooperation from the power tangles and political conflicts within the Kuomintang.
