The new era is an era of great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.With the vigorous development of various undertakings of socialist modernization,China is gradually approaching the center of the world stage.Patriotism which as a core social value,provides spiritual impetus for our country's sustainable development in the past thousand years.The general secretary Xi Jinping pointed out the importance of patriotism many times at the study meeting of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee,and emphasizing that patriotism education is an important part of national education.In the new era,patriotism education is facing new challenges and problems under the new background.The people who are the psychologically Japanese and the “Internet celebrity” who changed the national anthem to attract attention,as well as the Insulting speech of our country have emerged in endlessly.It is imperative to research patriotism education based on the social background of the new era.This research is divided into four parts:The first part is the analysis of the related theories of patriotism education.This part explains the connotation of patriotism education,and comprehensively answers the basic questions of “what is the patriotism” and “what is the patriotism education”.Then it traces the historical origin of patriotism education and analyses the theme of patriotism education in different times.Finally,combined with the characteristics of the new era,the theme of patriotic education in the new era is national rejuvenation.The second part is about the problems faced by patriotic education in the new era.The patriotic education in the new era mainly faces five problems: first,the nothingness of patriotic standards;secondly,the narrowness of patriotic understanding;thirdly,the Doublefaced of patriotic attitude;fourthly,the oral practice of patriotism;fifthly,the irrationality of patriotic expression.To grasp the problems faced by patriotic education in the new era is conducive to dredging the crux of patriotic education and improving the effectiveness of patriotic education.The third part is about the causes of patriotism education problems in the new era.Patriotism education in the new era is facing the challenge of the new social environment,which is manifested in the elimination of traditional state concepts by economic globalization,network application promote the Irrational patriotic behaviour,and the cultural pluralism attack patriotic values.At the same time,the shortcomings of traditional patriotic education,such as lack of pertinence in educational objectives,lack of realism in educational content,lack of contemporary in educational discourse and lack of innovation in educational paths make it weak to cope with them.The fourth part is the concept of strengthening patriotism education in the new era.In order to improve the effectiveness of patriotic education in the new era,we must update the goal of patriotic education,enrich the content of patriotic education,consummate the discourse of patriotic education and innovate the path of patriotic education.
