According to the statistics from the National Bureau, the number of elderly people aged 65 and over in China has increased by 2 million in 2017.The speed of population growth and aging in China is accelerating obviously.Family structure is constantly adjusting, and the emergence of the "4-2-1 family structure" has increased the life and economic pressure of young couples. The "9073" pension model is also gradually changing to the "9064" pension model. However, institutional pension is not a popular choice.Through four sampling surveys of the living conditions of the elderly in both urban and rural areas in China,we can see that Most elderly people who wish to stay in old-age care institutions are disabled elderly people. Many elderly people are still reluctant to stay in nursing homes. The elderly who choose to take the initiative to stay are still relatively young. To familiarize themselves with the living environment, and second, that old people may have doubts about the services provided by the organization.During the period of the author's practice, the old people who come to the nursing home for consultation are mostly accompanied by their children, and they will fully understand the conditions of nursing homes.A thoughtful decision will be made after a period of time.It can be seen that the society has higher requirements on the functional perfection of the current old-age care institutions. At present, the services provided by nursing homes today are limited to daily care, cleaning, and drug treatment. They rarely focus on the spiritual needs of the elderly. The elderly tend to conceal their emotions and if their true feeling was ignored, something worse may happen. At present, there are lots of research on the life satisfaction and spiritual comfort of the elderly in nursing homes in China, but little has been done on the difficulties that the elderly faced with at the beginning days. The study takes the new residents living in the nursing home of Linjiang city as the object to study the adaptation of the new elderly there. The assessment is conducted at the initial stage of admission to ensure that the problems faced by the elderly are mostly caused by psychological obstacles, and then casework methods are used to discover the problems in detail, analyse the reasons and offer feasible countermeasures by using social support theory in conjunction with rational emotional therapy from the perspective of superiority. The study aims to change the mental state of the new comers in the nursing home,to meet their spiritual needs in all ways and enrich their later life.In addition, efforts should be made to fully discover the neglected potential of the elderly,to remould their self-confidence and to strengthen the social function of the elderly so as to increase their sense of belonging, intimacy and loneliness.
