How to promote the harmony of ethnic relations in multi-ethnic countries is highly concerned issue.Ethnic stereotypes is considered to be important cognitive factors which is influencing inter-ethnic relations.The ethnic stereotype is the cognition of the characteristics of the ethnic characteristics of the individual's foreign group,which is fixed,one-sided and generalized that is based on the differences and cultures between different ethnic groups.And the appearance of two types of ethnic stereotypes: implicit ethnic stereotypes and explicit ethnic stereotypes.Different ethnic-theories may affect their cognition of the ethnic,which in turn affects the exchanges between ethnic groups further.The current research shows that the individual have two distinct ethnic-theories on the ethnic essentialism and the ethnic constructivism,and examines the influence of the ethnic essentialism and the ethnic constructivism on the external stereotypes,however,few studies from the implicit point of view to explore the influence of ethnic essentialism and ethnic constructivism on the formation process of ethnic stereotypes and its internal mechanism.Based on this,this research is based on the ethnic reality of our country,and explores the influence of the ethnic essentialism on the activation and inhibition effects of the implicit ethnic stereotypes,to weaken and reduce the negative ethnic stereotypes,and to build correct cognition and formation of harmonious ethnic relations between the inner and outer groups and propose targeted countermeasures and suggestions.The Han ethnicity high school students in the Miao Han area were investigated.Firstly,the Han ethnicity high school students' explicit ethnic stereotypes and ethnic stereotypes(pre-study)were studied.Then,whether the Miao ethnic group information can activate the Han ethnicity test Implicit ethnic stereotypes,and compare the differences which is the degree of activation of implicit stereotypes between the participants who are mainly constructivist in the ethnic cognition and those who are based on the essence of ethnic cognition(Experiment 1);This paper discusses the inhibition of the implicit ethnic stereotypes activated by the participants,and compares the two types of participants which are mainly based on constructivism in ethnic cognition and which are mainly based on the essence of ethnic cognition in the degree of inhibition of stereotypes(Experiment 2).Based on the above experimental results,the study draws the following main conclusions:(1)The Han high school students in the Miao-Han area existed a remarkable explicit ethnic stereotype,but the ethnic stereotype of the Miao ethnic group was more positive than negative;(2)The Miao ethnic group classification information can activate the implicit ethnic stereotypes of Han high school students;(3)Individuals who are mainly based on the essence of ethnic cognition have a higher degree of stereotypes of the implicit ethnic groups activated by individuals who are mainly constructivist in ethnic cognition;(4)After the activation of the implicit ethnic stereotype,the individual will have a significant tendency to suppress.There is no difference in the degree of suppression of implicit ethnic stereotypes between individuals who are mainly constructivist in ethnic cognition and individuals whose essence is based on ethnic cognition.
