Deng Ziqin's Achievements And Contributions Of Ethnology

As we all know,since the beginning of modern times,with the introduction of Western nationalism,the ethnologists of the older generation have conducted systematic and in-depth studies on China's ethnic issues in the course of striving for national independence and the construction of a modern nation-state,Which set the keynote for the ethnic policy of the People's Republic of China and the basic pattern for contemporary Chinese nationalities.In a sense,the ethnic groups in contemporary China are studied and constructed by older generations of ethnologists.In the early 1950 s,China carried out large-scale ethnic identification activities.As a stage event in the research and development of ethnology,Deng Ziqin was an early ethnologist in China and participated in this work.Combing and systematically studying the actual work and research results of Deng Ziqin's ethnology is helpful to tease out the historical process of the construction of nationality and nation state in ethnological research since modern times.Ethnology and anthropology are humanities which originated in the West and have played an important role in guiding China's ethnic studies and ethnic work in the past 100years.However,with the development of the times,many new changes have taken place in ethnic issues,which contributing to the original ethnology research method and paradigm can no longer accurately explain and guide China's ethnic work.The academia has realized this problem and calls for the localization of ethnological theory.Chinese ethnology has its historical tradition,laying the foundation for Chinese ethnological theory which is established in China's"Huayi"(??)system from Yugong of Shangshu,Wangzhi of Lichi,Xinanyi liezhuan of Shihchi,which adapt to the ethnic relations of ancient society.however,since entering modern times,facing numerous and complex Chinese social conditions,the ancient Chinese ethnological theory has not been enough to guide the construction of modern national states.On the basis of the study of the theory of Western ethnology in the early generation of ethnologists,our collation of the scientific research results of older ethnologists will help to promote the localization of ethnological theory.The academic sources of contemporary Chinese ethnology are mainly Wu Wenzao and his students Fei Xiaotong and Lin Yaohua,besides,there are still many founders of local Ethnology,such as Ma Changshou of Shaanxi,Fang Guoyu of Yunnan,Li Anzhai and Ren Naiqiang of Sichuan(as far as the ethnological origins of Sichuan are concerned,it also includes Xu Zhongshu and Meng Wentong).In addition,Deng Ziqin is also an important source of ethnology in Sichuan.A large number of his writings have not been published publicly,so his influence has not been fully demonstrated.Therefore,the systematic combing of Deng Ziqin's achievements in ethnology is helpful to the complete construction of the genealogy of ethnology in Greater Sichuan.This paper is divided into five parts.The first chapter is introduction which expounds the reason of the topic selection and academic significance.Through the historical documentation,field investigation and the drawing of academic pedigree,Deng Ziqin's achievements and contributions in Ethnology research are combed.The second chapter mainly focus on Deng Ziqin,who led the Ethnic Social History Investigation Team of the History Department of Southwest Normal University from1958 to 1964 to Maowen Yi Autonomous County,Aba Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture,Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture and other places to carry out ethnic social history surveys.The data by the survey were classified and sorted,and the representative Tusi(??),religious temples and Serfdom were introduced,and through the social history survey of Tusi,religious temple,Serfdom and other aspects to reproduce Deng Ziqin's investigation results.The third chapter introduces Deng Ziqin's achievements of ethnic history.The achievements of Deng Ziqin's research on ethnic history are mostly concentrated in the works of the history of Qiang,the Lecture of History of Sui,Tang,Wudai,Outline of Chinese Ethnic History,Investigation of Diaoyu Town's Facts,the Collection of Study on Ethnic Social History,etc,and more than ten ethnology research papers,for example The Social Nature of the Xizhou Dynasty from the Investigation and Study of Minority Society,which introduces its content,structure,and viewpoints,and summarize Deng Ziqin's ethnological research theory.The fourth chapter introduces Deng Ziqin's contribution on ethnological research.It's the first that Deng Ziqin's research on ethnic history and investigation of ethnology to strenthen the localization of ethnological theory,he is the pioneer of the History Museum of Southwest University,and the third contribution is ethnology disciplines in Southwest University,even greater Sichuan area(?????).Through the elaboration and research of the previous chapters,we can conclude that Deng Ziqin's ethnological research has historical,regional,cultural,religious characteristics and class nature.By combing Deng Ziqin's efforts and achievements in the construction of ethnology and subject construction in Southwest University,this paper hopes to establish the academic pedigree of Deng Ziqin's ethnological research.In the conclusion part,the author summarizes the characteristics of Deng Ziqin's ethnological research,analyzes the academic origin of his ethnological research,evaluates the influence of his ethnological research,and hopes to establish the academic pedigree of Deng Ziqin's ethnological research so that more scholars can understand Deng Ziqin and study Deng Ziqin's scholarly researches.
