During the 21~stt century, the melting of sea ice and glaciers of the Arctic Ocean due to the global warming has raised the prospect of economic development, such as the exploitation of natural resources, shipping through the Canadian Northwest Passage and the Northern Sea Route in the Russian Arctic, and fisheries. At the same time, there are growing concerns that climate change may give adverse effects on vulnerable marine ecosystems and the livelihoods of indigenous people in the Arctic.Furthermore, increasing shipping in the Arctic Ocean may enhance the risk of marine pollution from vessels. It appears that security is also becoming a matter of concern for coastal States in the Arctic.us,growing attention is paid to the governance of the Arctic Ocean as well as its adjusting seas. The determination of the spatial ambit of coastal State jurisdiction over marine spaces is fundamental for ocean governance and the same applies to the Arctic Ocean. In this regard,a question arises how it is possible to delimit marine spaces where the jurisdiction of two or more coastal States overlaps.Without rules on maritime delimitation in marine spaces where the jurisdiction of coastal States overlaps, the legal uses of these spaces cannot be enjoyed effectively. In this sense, maritime delimitation is of paramount importance in the effective use of the oceans. Thus, this contribution seeks to examine maritime delimitations in the Arctic Ocean and its marginal seas, including the Beaufort Sea,Barents Sea,Chukchi Sea,Greenland Sea,Norwegian Sea,and Iceland Sea.Arctic maritime delimitations must be examined from the perspective of the development of the international law of maritime delimitation. Also, the determination of spatial ambit of the coastal State jurisdiction is fundamental for ocean governance and the same applies to the Arctic Ocean. In this sense, maritime delimitation is of paramount importance in the Arctic Ocean governance.us,this study will examine Arctic maritime delimitations by comparing them to the case law concerning maritime delimitation. In so doing, this study seeks to clarify features of Arctic maritime delimitations. In essence, the law of maritime delimitation was developed through international courts and tribunals. Thus, principal focus will be on a comparative analysis between the case law and State practice with regard to Arctic maritime delimitations. In so doing, this contribution will seek to clarify some features of Arctic maritime delimitations. This article includes four parts. The first part tends to analysis the applicable of international law in arctic region;the second part is focusing on the state practices and case law of maritime delimitation on arctic while the final part figures out the unique features on maritime delimitation on this region.
