Thought on fostering character and civic virtue is an important content of Xi Jinping's important exposition on education.Implementing the fundamental task of fostering character and civic virtue is not only conducive to promoting the modernization of education in our country and building a powerful country in education,but also decisive significance for running a satisfactory education for the people.Since the 18 th National Congress of the communist Party of China(CPC),Xi Jinping has focused on education and cared about the people.He presided over conferences to consider major issues of education,went to college to have friendly discussions with teachers and students,wrote letters and sent congratulatory messages to college students and international educational organizations many times,delivered a series of important speeches,made many important expositions,and put forward a series of new theories and ideas.It is gradually forming Xi Jinping thought on fostering character and civic virtue in higher education.Xi Jinping summed up all the experience of educational theory and practice since the 18 th National Congress of the Party as “Nine Persistence” on September 10,2018,at the National Education Congress.It is important content to implement the fundamental task of fostering character and civic virtue,which reflects the important position of fostering character and civic virtue and provides a fundamental guideline for the train people in the new era.In this context,the study of Xi Jinping thought on fostering character and civic virtue in higher education has practical and theoretical significance for the development of higher education in the new era.This paper focuses on Xi Jinping thought on fostering character and civic virtue in higher education,which makes a systematic study on the research overview,theoretical origin,formation and development process,main contents and the value of the times by using the methods of literature research and historical analysis.First of all,it describes the background and significance of the research,combed the research status at home and abroad,and summarized the content and innovation of the paper.Secondly,it defines and studies the related concepts of Xi Jinping thought of on fostering character and civic virtue in higher education,and deeply explores its traditional cultural connotation,Marxist classical writers and the theory of moral education of successive leaders of the Communist Party of China,It lays a theoretical foundation for further research.On the basis of the analysis of the historicalbackground of the formation and development process Xi Jinping thought of on fostering character and civic virtue in higher education,this paper makes a detailed analysis of the basic documents of Xi Jinping thought of on fostering character and civic virtue in higher education by historical analysis,gives a panoramic view of its formation,and divides the formation and development process of his thought.On this basis,this paper succinctly summarizes the main contents of Xi Jinping thought of on fostering character and civic virtue in higher education from the main line of training what kind of people,how to train people,and for whom to train people,and expounds its quality characteristics.Finally,it analyzes the time value of Xi Jinping thought of on fostering character and civic virtue in higher education from the perspectives of the world and China.Xi Jinping thought on fostering character and civic virtue in higher education has further enriched Xi Jinping thought on education and contributed Chinese wisdom and Chinese solutions to improve the ability of global talent training.
