Critical Study Of Otto Bauer's National Theory

Otto Bauer was one of the most famous theorists of Austrian Marxism,and he also played a very important role in the leadership of the Austrian Social Democratic Party in the early twentieth century.The eclectic and compromise characteristics of Bauer's national theory have been criticized by orthodox Marxists.However,his theory to some extent reveals the method of Marx's historical materialism,and undeniably plays an important role in the later development of democratic socialism and the study of Marxist national theory.With the development of history,Bauer' s national theory in the new era shows its value and significance more and more.We cannot therefore completely deny his theory,we should strive to properly and objectively evaluate and study Bauer and his national theories,and apply them to our socialist ethnic theories and practices.This is of great significance to the development of Marxist national theory and the improvement of current socialist national system.This paper makes a critical study of Otto Bauer's national theory by analyzing the characteristics and internal contradictions of Bauer' s national theory,makes a comparative study of Bauer' s national theory and Marxist national theory,objectively analyzes and views the limitations and value implications of Otto Bauer' s national theory,discusses the theoretical contribution of Otto Bauer' s ethnic theory and its enlightenment and advisability in our understanding and dealing with ethnic and state issues.
