Australia is a continental country surrounded by sea.Its territory is sparsely populated and its market is limited.Foreign trade is an important component of its economic growth.China is Australia's most important trading partner overseas, and Australia's trade with China has grown rapidly since 2008 as China's economic rise has accelerated, especially as it became the world's second-largest economy in 2010.China's influence in the Asia-Pacific region has grown as its economic power has grown. On the other hand, the United has increased its strategic resources and frequently intervened in regional affairs to strengthen the Re-entry of America To Asia-Pacific,after 2009.China and the United States will inevitably have competition in the Asia-Pacific region.Under this situation,As a middle country with different interest demands to China and the United States,Australia made its China policy constantly adjust to fit in with competition between China and the United States in the Asia-Pacific region. This paper reviews the China policies of four Australian governments from2008 to 2018.The Rudd government is mainly precaution, the Gillard government is rational and pragmatic, the Abbott government is pragmatic but defensive, and the Turnbull government is high-profile precaution again. In general, the evolution of Australia's China policy in the past decade has two sides. In the political and security fields,China's policy has not remained normal. In the economic field,we have been expanding cooperation with China. The evolution of Australia's China policy pattern is the result of three factors at the level of domestic society,Asian Pacific and prime minister. At the domestic level, there include national interests, national identity, party politics, the media and public opinion. At the Asia-Pacific region,it is influenced by America's return to the Asia-Pacific and China's accelerated rise.At the personal level, the prime minister's governing style and diplomatic philosophy are the factors affecting his China policy. In addition, this policy model has many potentially negative effects: it hinders the comprehensive and in-depth development of Sino-Australia relation,it is not conducive to the stability of the Asia-Pacific region and the improvement of Australia's new government's China policy.China can take measures to avoid the negative impacts of Australia's China policy,at bilateral and multilateral levels.
