| Disabled people are equal members of the whole human family,However,limited by the physical defects,inconvenient movement and the imperfection of social barrier free environment,the disabled rarely appear or speak in the mainstream society,so that the vast majority of the public can only understand the disabled as a special group through the media.As an important bridge for the public to connect with the outside world,the media can reproduce the issues of disabled people,shape the image of disabled people,project the real world of "invisible,untouchable and unthinkable" to the public,and become an important way for the public to understand disabled people.It also plays an important role in influencing the social status of the disabled.Based on this background,1085 disability coverage in People's Daily,South Weekend and China Disabled Persons from 2007 to 2018 were taken as the research objects,used content analysis method and frame analysis method of Gamson's“interpretive package” orientation to analyze the media framework of disability coverage,so as to explore the logic and framework characteristics of the three newspapers' construction of disability coverage.It is found that the disability coverage in the three newspapers are characterized by less coverage,obvious emotional tendency and emphasis on official discourse.In terms of the content of the coverage,the positions of the three newspapers are different.People's Daily tends to introduce the national disability action from the perspective of the government;South Weekend tends to expose negative violations from the perspective of human rights of the disabled;China Disabled Persons tends to introduce the disability mode andrehabilitation knowledge from the perspective of the expert.In terms of the use of media framework,the characteristics of the three newspapers are also different.People's Daily tends to use “politicians frame” and “ceremony frame” to show the characteristics of “following the national consciousness and creating a caring atmosphere”;South Weekend tends to use “accountability frame” and “model frame”to show “attaching importance to the rights and individuals of the disabled”;China Disabled Persons tends to use “politicians frame”,“social public welfare frame” and“popular science frame” to show the overall characteristics of “focusing on disabled model and scientific service for disabled people”.This study believes that there is still a gap between the current media reports on the disabled and the requirements of the United Nations that "effective publicity activities should be initiated and carried out continuously to improve the correct awareness of the public on the disabled".The specific targeted actions of the media are: firstly,to increase the number of reports and promote the normalization of reports on the disabled;secondly,to change the concept of reports,balance the reporting framework and present the disabled more objectively and comprehensively;thirdly,to enrich the reporting elements,improve readability and enhance the communication effect.The content analysis and frame analysis combination method of this study make up for the deficiency of the current research that only descriptive analysis of the framework of disabled people's reports but neglect the process of framework construction,and enrich the application research of "frame theory" in China.In the future,it may supplement the physical research unit of paper layout,or contact newspaper audience or disabled to interview and verify the conclusions for further exploration. |
