Anyhow, since the Reform and Opening-up, Chinese media has made someprogress while exploring emergency reporting nonstop.Nowadays, the rising of MicroBlog and WeChat, to some degree, has loosenedthe public’s reliance on traditional media, such as newspapers, broadcast andtelevision, etc. Nevertheless, since traditional media still take advantages in the public,they are the main channels for the public to gain authorized and accurate information.Thus, as voices of Chinese party and people, it’s necessary for the news media tothink about their roles and functions in emergency reporting.Taking examples like “4.20Lushan Earthquake”,“7.29Criminal Cases inShenzhen”,“11.22Pipeline Deflagration Accident in Qingdao” in2013, and “PeopleInfected H7N9Bird Flu in Jiangsu and Zhejiang” in2014, this paper analyzesdifferent roles and functions of the media in different kinds of emergency reportingwith Proletarian views of news.Mouthpiece for the party and the people’s eyes and ears in the class ofearthquakes and other natural disasters, emergencies reported in the news media as apublisher of information, the coordinator of society, shaping the image of thegovernment, social psychological adjustment who played the dissemination ofinformation, public guidance, persuasion and function.
