Industry associations/chamber of commerce,as important social organizations in the economic realm,have natural advantages and unique functions in collaborative social governance.The paper takes Guangdong Province as an example to conduct research on relationships between industry associations/chamber of commerce and the government.It sketches the development process for Guangdong industry associations/chamber of commerce,as well as the evolution process of their relationships with the government.It also summerises the current main relationship mode between the two.In our country the industry associations/chamber of commerce have not been put into good use at present.One of the restraining factors is that their relationships with the government cannot satisfy the requirement of comprehensively deepen reform and are not suitable and connected with the economic development process in our country.Based on the above,from the public governance theory academic point of view,using empirical analysis and comparative approach,the paper conducts a deep research on the existing main problems between Guangdong industry associations/chamber of commerce and the government,including inaccurate positioning,immoderate management and insufficient communication and cooperation,analyses the reasons from three dimensions(the government,Guangdong industry associations/chamber of commerce and other aspects),and also draws upon experience from inner China and other countries.Based on the research results,the paper advises to precisely define the roles for the government and non-profit organizations and rebuild the relationships between the government and Guangdong industry associations/chamber of commerce.The new good interacting relationship should include equal cooperation,advantage complemention,co-governance and moderate supervision.
