As a united multi-ethnic country,it is important for China to properly deal with ethnic relations and issues in its development.Xinjiang,located in the northwest border of China,is home to people of 47 ethnic minorities.Its special geographical,humanistic and religious environment puts itself long on the frontline of anti-splitting and anti-infiltrating struggle.The middle school students of ethnic minorities in Xinjiang are the reserve forces to realize the prosperity and development of ethnic minor ities,and also shoulder the historical responsibility and the mission of the times to realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.Therefore,strengthening the awareness of the Chinese nation community among these students represents not only an important deploy of national ideology and politics,but also the vital content of the ideological education in schools.Furthermore,it also play an important role in dealing with ethnic relations and issues.Based on Marxist ethnic theory,Marxist thought on community,Sinicized Marxist national theory,Chinese Communist Party's National Programmes and policies,this paper summarizes the characteristics and necessity of cultivating the Chinese national community awareness of middle school students from ethnic minorities In Xinjiang.And by the research approach of finding out an d analyzing problems as well as giving effective countermeasures,this paper also investigates into the cultivation of the awareness among those students.The paper uses literature analysis,investigation analysis,interdisciplinary research,designs questionnaires In the investigation and research,design a questionnaire,and uses statistical analysis tools to analyze the data of empirical survey of 284 middle school students from ethnic minorities in three middle schools in Xinjiang.According to the survey,the effect of the cultivation is remarkable,with the general improvement in the awareness of the Chinese national community among those surveyed students.However,the cultivation environment is relatively single,some middle school students from ethnic minorities are not so interested in learning about the history and culture of the Chinese nation,their awareness of belonging to the Chinese nation is not strong,and their knowledge about China's national policy is not comprehensive enough.Th erefore,from the three perspectives of society,students themselves and schools,this paper analyzes the causes of the problems arising from cultivatin g the awareness of the Chinese national community among middle school students from ethnic minorities in Xinjiang.Then,based on enriching the cultivating content,this paper makes clear the roles that schools,the CPC and the government should play in the cultivating process,and proposes ten effective policies to truly improve the effect of the cultivation.It is hoped that this paper can provide some reference value for cultivating the awareness of the Chinese n ational community among middle school students from ethnic minorities in Xinjiang.
