Government trust refers to a kind of positive and stable expectation that citizens have in the government's future intentions or actions in the process of interaction and communication with the government, including the confidence and belief that government policies, behaviors, and outputs are consistent with expectations. At present,China is in a critical period of social transformation and deepening reform, and various social contradictions occur frequently. At the same time, the rapid advancement of media technology, especially the Internet technology, has greatly impacted the mechanism of the mainstream media culture and core values of traditional media in China, which directly affects the political attitudes and tendencies of contemporary college students, and then affects the degree of trust in the government. As the mainstay of future society, college students' trust in the government affects the stability of the future political system and the development of social democracy. This article first reviews the domestic and foreign development of theories on government trust and media use to establish a theoretical basis for the study of the relationship between the two.Second, the core concepts of trust, government trust, and the use of online media are analyzed in this article.Define and operationalize the measurement, and explain the theoretical basis and framework under which this paper conducts the research. Then take university students in Xuzhou City,Jiangsu Province as a sample to conduct a descriptive analysis and regression analysis on the collected data, and explore the impact of online media use on government trust. The empirical results show that, first,in terms of the frequency and content of online media use,the college student group in this article has a higher dependence on online media, tends to be "entertainment-oriented" in terms of content use,and has a relatively low frequency of political participation.Second, college students have a high level of perception of government trust, showing a differential pattern of “high trust in the central government but low in the local level” and a pattern of “strong ethical” trust.Third, the more frequently students use the Internet for political interaction and expression, the more trust they have in central government agencies and personnel, and the higher the overall level of government trust, and the more frequently students use the Internet in public affairs to central and local government agencies,The more civil servants tend to be distrustful, the lower their overall level of government trust. At the same time,non-political use of social entertainment and tool information has no direct relationship with government trust. The above conclusions not only reveal how college students' use of mass Internet media has affected government trust, but also present the multiple and complexities of this impact process. On the basis of empirical research, this article analyzes the problems existing in the process of college students' use of online media and the influence of government trust, that is,insufficient disclosure of government information and response, improper use of online media platform functions, lack of institutionalized network participation paths for college students,Communication between governments is blocked. Then explain the causes of the problem from the three levels of government, online media and college students. Finally, suggestions and countermeasures to improve the level of government trust of college students in the age of online media are put forward.According to the reasons mentioned above,we will propose corresponding solutions from the aspects of building a complete information communication platform, establishing an effective "request-response" mechanism, and establishing a critical "receiving-expression" consciousness,so as to respond better The political aspirations of emerging media users, enhancing their level of government trust, and achieving good government governance are beneficial. There are paper has 6 pictures,18 tables, and 126 references in this thesis.
