The new curriculum reform in high school advocates autonomy,cooperation and inquiry teaching methods.However,there are many problems lie in the high school teaching,for example,the students' terrible learning habits,the lack of problem consciousness,cooperation and self-confidence.Most teachers are using teacher-fronted and cramming teaching methods in their teaching which are too monotonous.Besides,though chemistry is modularized and rich in content,the knowledge points are so scattered and numerous that many students find it is difficult to learn it.Therefore,it is urgent to optimize the teaching methods and change the learning methods.By consulting reference,I sorted out the related core concepts on the subject at home and abroad.On the basis of the study,directed by system theory,Bruner's Structuralism,Constructivism and regarded 113 students from two classes as study objects in a high school in Ning Xian,Gansu Provence,I carried out the Unit Whole Teaching Model in the practice of high school chemistry teaching.I divided relatively independent knowledge into a unit,which really has internal connection.According to Unit Whole Teaching Model,I organized the teaching procedure by overall recognition,solving the problem in teaching and learning,comprehensive training,summarizing each unit.And then analyzed the teaching results by students achievement assessments,class observation and interviews.Studies have shown that: Unit Whole Teaching Model has remarkable results in improving the quality of the students' work,the ability to summarize the knowledge in each unit,as well as improving their cooperation spirit and self-confidence.This study is an attempt of applying Unit Whole Teaching Model in high school chemistry teaching,it is a reference for promoting the revolution in chemistry class and optimizing the teaching methods.However,it is still need to be refined and improved.
