Environment,as a dumb teacher,is one of the most important educational resources in the early childhood.More than one study has pointed out that three-to-eight years old is not only an important stage for the rapid development of children’s reading,but a critical period for them to learn the basic reading skills as well.Home environment,without a doubt,will have a far-reaching influence on children’s reading.Therefore,the first mission for children’s parents is to provide a favorable family environment for children’s reading.This study,with "home environment of children’s reading" as the research subject and the children’s homes from kindergarten A in Fuzhou as the research sample,adopts such research techniques as literature,interviews,questionnaires,statistical analysis anecdotal record etc.By vestigating on the current situation of both the material and the spiritual hoome environmentof children’s reading,it is found that the principal problems include:in terms of the physical environment,most children do not have their own inde-pendent study,lack of specialized reading space;reading time and location are not rela-tively fixed,strongly arbitrary;parents’ reading material selection is not appropriate,untimely updated.From the perspective of spiritual environment,the parents’ ideas and attitudes towards children’s reading are not reasonable;parents reading models are vacant;parents’ participation in young children reading is low.Has carried on the reason analysis to solve the above problems,the following countermeasures and suggestions are put forward:On the one hand,establish an appro-prite home material environment according to local conditions,which is conducive to children’s reading.On the other hand,work together to create a nice home spiritual environment for reading,which is beneficial for children’s reading.
