Geography teaching materials is the most important learning resource for students to study geography,which is the most important basis for the teaching activities of geography teachers.The analysis and application of geography teaching material is the focus of geography teaching design.It is possible to promote the optimization of teaching activities and teaching methods of geography teachers,and to promote students' geography knowledge and geography literacy.This paper mainly aims at the comparative analysis of the old and new textbooks of the eighth grade of Hu'nan education.Through comparative analysis,summed up the characteristics and shortcomings of new textbooks.Using these characteristics and shortcomings,puts forward some suggestions on teaching.These suggestions are helpful to promote the design of geography teaching activities and the updating of teaching methods.It is also helpful to strengthen the students' learning of geography knowledge and develop the students' basic geography accomplishment.With the literature,comparative method,statistical method for comparative analysis,This paper aims at the textbook system(it contains the content system and the form of textual expression in the text),the image system(it contains the number of images,the image type and the image viewing),and the activity system(it contains the content of the activity type and activity design).Using comparative analysis,summed up the new characteristics and the shortcomings of the following textbooks:Characteristics:1.From the text system,the choice of text content more emphasis on regional geography,content changes,and more emphasis on integrity and synchronization with the times.The text content organization is more scientific and reasonable.Chapter arrangement focuses more on continuity and continuity.Focus and difficult to rational arrangements,more prominent.Strict language specification.The title is clear,at a glance.2.From the image system,the number of images greatly increased.The image type is concentrated and rich.And joined the active picture,there are very vivid and high pixel,there is a strong ornamental.3.From the activity system,the activity type is rich and varied,with many combinations and comprehensive strength.The material in the design of the activity has added a lot of reading chart information and expanded the activity function.The design difficulty of the activity is gradient,which is more in line with the actual level of students.Shortcomings:1.The explanation of professional terms is not enough.The geographical nouns or professional nouns did not explain in the textbook.For the students in compulsory education,there are some limitations in the understanding of geographical terms because of the the limited knowledge level.Such as delta,peninsula,the direction of the mountains,the flow of river.2.There is no preview activity or preview exercise before each chapter.And there is no review activity or homework after each chapter.According to the above characteristics and the shortcomings,teachers should strengthen the understanding of knowledge points of teaching materials,master commons and connections,characteristic differences between knowledge points;Teachers should be fully prepared before class;Teaching objectives should be written accurately;The textbook analysis should be comprehensive;The situation analysis of students' learning should be thorough;Reflections after class should be comprehensive.
