With the development of wireless communication and network technology,as well as the rapid update of mobile devices have improved the limitations of mobile learning caused by hardware in the past.When everyone has a mobile device,the way of mobile learning will change the existing learning style and create learning on the fingertips.The research problem based on the promotion of the Ministry of Education for the study travel in primary and middle schools,and the Hong Kong summer camp,which was launched in 2010 by the "V-China" Distance Education Program.The biggest feature of the summer camp is to let students go deep into all levels of Hong Kong society,carrying out inquiry learning.The inquiry of the Cheung Chau Island in Hong Kong is one of them.In past years,the exploration of Cheung Chau Island was paper-based inquiry learning activity.The handbook is A4 size,which is not convenient for students to carry and record in outdoor environment.Learners often complete the content of the handbook after the end of inquiry activity,which cannot record the inquiry process in time and effectively,finish the inquiry problems and share the inquiry results.With the deepening of educational informatization in primary and middle schools,especially when learning places are moving from traditional classrooms to outdoors,mobile learning can better meet the needs of primary and middle school students for outdoor education.This paper uses literature research,case study and investigation method,reviewed the current research about outdoor mobile learning for primary and middle school students at home and abroad.Based on activity theory,situational learning theory and mobile learning activity design model(MLADM model),put forward the outdoor mobile inquiry learning activity design model,developed the APP named "Cheung Chau Island Study",designed the "m-inqUiry" outdoor mobile inquiry activity process.The design model of outdoor mobile inquiry learning activity includes five elements,which are analysis of learners and learning needs,creation of learning scenes,learning environment design,process of inquiry learning activity and outdoor learning support services.This design model is the theoretical basis for the mobile learning of Cheung Chau Island;"Cheung Chau Island Study" APP is the main environment for outdoor mobile learning;"m-inqUiry" outdoor mobile inquiry activity process is an activity guide for Cheung Chau Island exploration.Learners are mainly primary and middle school students from grade five to grade eight,from Shanghai,Foshan,Tangshan and Jinggangshan.According to the implementation of mobile inquiry learning in Cheung Chau Island,summarized and analyzed the problems in the process of implementation,reviewed and reflected on the research results from five layers: outdoor mobile learning content,learning interest,learning process,learning experience and learning evaluation.Generally speaking,the whole experience of this activity is positive,which can provide reference for carrying out outdoor mobile learning activity in primary and middle school students in the future.
