Purpose:Explore if the lower limb components of different gender will affect the energy metabolism during the cycle ergometer movement in 20-30 year old adults,and determine the relationship between body composition and energy metabolism during the cycle ergometer movement.Through the changes of?VE/?VCO2 and?VO2/?HR indicators in cycle ergometer movement,determine the relationship between metabolism indexes and lower limb components on the one hand,and determine whether the body composition will affect the cardiovascular system and respiratory system on the other hand.Then provide more guidance for different people to do cycle ergometer movement.Methods: The male subjects(n=20)did cycle ergometer movement with 100 W and 150 W load,the female subjects(n=19)did cycle ergometer movement with 100 W.Before the exercise,body composition were determined using DEXA.The energy metabolism was measured by Cortex MetaMax 3B portable gas metabolism analyzer.The relationships between the components of lower limbs and the energy metabolism indexes during cycle ergometer movement were analyzed.Results:(1)Druing cycle ergometer movement with 100 W and 150 W load,the male subjects' s lean body weight(LBW)of the lower limb had significant negative correlations with the VO2/kgBW and VO2/kgLBW,VCO2/kgBW and VCO2/kgLBW,energy expenditure(EE)/kgBW and EE/kgLBW,and net energy expenditure(NEE)/kgBW and NEE/kgLBW(p<0.05,p<0.01);the fat weight of the lower limb had a significant negative correlation with ?VE/?VCO2(P < 0.05).Druing cycle ergometer movement with 150 W load,the fat weight of the lower limb also had a significant negative correlation with VO2/kgBW,EE/kgBW and NEE/kgBW(p< 0.05,p< 0.01).(2)Druing cycle ergometer movement with 100 W load,the female subjects' s LBW of the lower limb had significant negative correlations with the VO2/kgLBW,VCO2/kgBW and VCO2/kgLBW,EE/kgBW and EE/kgLBW,and NEE/kgBW and NEE/kgLBW(p<0.05,p<0.01).While the fat weight of the lower limb had not significant relationship with energy metabolism.Conclusions:(1)During the cycle ergometer movement,there were negative correlations between lean body weight of lower limb and gas metabolism and energy expenditure.But the correlation coefficient between different genders had not difference.(2)When the male subjects did cycle ergometer movement with 100 W and 150 W load,with the increase of the fat weight of the lower limb,the solpe of ?VE/?VCO2 decreased.So it was necessary to control the fat weight of the lower limb.(3)During cycle ergometer movement with 100 W,the regression equation for men was: Y=-2.387× 10-6X+0.229(Y: NEE/kgBW(kcal/min/kg);X: LBW(g)),the regression equation for women was: Y=-2.643× 10-6X1-5.286×10-6X2+0.23(Y: NEE/kgBW(kcal/min/kg);X1: LBW(g);X2: lower limb weight(g)).During cycle ergometer movement with 150 W,the regression equation for men was: Y=-1.282×10-5X+0.279(Y: EE/kgBW(kcal/min/kg);X: the lower limb weight(g)).
