The era of education keeps moving forward.With the reform of basic education,the dual base has evolved from four bases to core qualities,which highlights the increasing importance of students’ comprehensive literacy.As a basic discipline,the Chinese language discipline plays an important role in cultivating students’ comprehensive quality.Specific to the language discipline,language ability,as one of the Chinese language literacy,is the basic ability of contemporary primary school students and is a prerequisite for learning other disciplines.The four basic abilities of listening,speaking,reading,and writing compose the most basic language ability,and language ability is the foundation of these four abilities.The process of reading poems is the process of cultivating students’ sense of language.The comprehension of reading poems constantly promotes the internalization of language knowledge.Numerous studies have found that primary school students are at the critical stage of cultivating interest and memorizing knowledge,but after entering the upper grades,students lack stress on poetry reading habits and reading time due to academic pressure.According to the Chinese language curriculum,the high school primary school puts forward higher requirements for students’ ability to read.Cultivating students’ ability to read poetry and speech can promote the improvement of Chinese language literacy,and it also helps students to improve their aesthetic ability and exercise their ability to express their expressions.Therefore,it is necessary to study the effective methods for improving the reading skills of primary school pupils in grade five.This study mainly adopts the questionnaire method and the educational experiment method,and uses the survey questionnaire of poetry reading ability to understand the status of poetry reading ability of the fifth grade primary school students,and then analyzes the current situation.Then according to the weak areas of the students to design a targeted program,select the fifth grade students in A primary school in Chongqing to conduct an experimental study.Prior to the experiment,the ability to read the poetry reading ability of the students was measured by using the reading abilityevaluation table,and the experimental class was tested in ten weeks.After the experiment,the test was performed according to the reading evaluation table.According to related books to design teaching content and reading content,through different topics,the classification of different poets to read to promote learning,stimulate interest,and foster reading habits.Through the combination of independent reading and reading lessons in the morning reading classes,the reading and reading skills of the fifth-grade students can be improved.The results show:1.The status of the reading ability of grade five primary school students in Chongqing has the following characteristics:Pupils in fifth grade have a medium level of poetry reading ability.The level of poetry reading skills of girls is higher than that of boys.Students who spend half an hour or more a day,students who have a high level of interest in reading,and students who have a high level of guidance have a better level of poetry reading.2.Reading training programs have a certain effect on students’ ability to read poetry,which helps pupils to improve their poetry reading interest,aesthetic ability,and Chinese literacy.
