Spatial ability is an important component of intelligence, the results of spatial ability can predict children's science, mathematics, engineering, technical(STEM)studies in the future. However, there are few studies about the children's spatial ability in pre-school period. Many research's tools, research's types and research's contents are relatively obsolete and no longer have the ability of identification and guidance anymore. This study combines tests and interviews, through the kindergarten three age groups of 211 subjects(78 large classes,73 classes,60 small classes)to explore the relationship between the spatial concept and the development of children's spatial visulaization ability. The characteristics of children's spatial orientation concept and the ability of spatial visualization ability are discussed in different age groups. This study uses the direction/location concept test in Bracken's basic concept test and the spatial visualization test in Woodcock Johnson's Children's Cognitive Development Test to measure the level of spatial visualization of preschool children. The results indicated that:1.There is a significant difference in the spatial orientation concept and spatial visualization ability of children aged 3.5-6.5 years. The spatial orientation concept and spatial visualization ability of children during this period is gradually developing.2.4.5 years old is the key period of the concept of spatial orientation concept of children and the development of spatial visualization ability.3.There is no significant gender difference in the spatial orientation concept and spatial visualization ability of children between 3.5 and 6.5 years of age.4.3.5-6.5 years old children's spatial orientation concept of is highly correlated with the spatial visualization ability.5.3.5-6.5 years of age children's spatial orientation of the concept of scores can explain and predict spatial visualization ability's scores.6.In addition to the three-dimensional direction/inside and outside dimension, the spatial orientation concept test indicated a significant positive correlation between the scores of the other six dimensions and the spatial visualization test scores. The highest degree of correlation is the three-dimensional direction/horizontal dimension, the lowest degree of correlation is the relative distance dimension.
