John Rock was a famous British politician,philosopher and educator in the seventeenth Century.In the history of education in Europe,Rock was a very important figure.Some of his ideas and works have brought great influence to the later generations.Rock has made outstanding achievements in many fields,especially in political and philosophical aspects.Because of his prominence in these fields,researchers tend to focus on his political and philosophical works and ignore his important ideas in pedagogy.Although the number of special studies on Rock's educational thought is few,it does not mean that Rock's educational thought is of no value.His moral education thought is based on his political and philosophical views,and has been summed up by a long time of thinking and analysis.Rock's education thought had a great influence on the British and other European countries at that time,and many of them were of reference value until today.This paper,starting with the background of Rock's times and the theoretical basis of his moral education thought,further studies the theoretical system of Rock's moral education thought,and then evaluates it and analyzes its contemporary value.The article consists of five parts.The first chapter is the introduction,summarizes the purpose and significance of the topic,describes the status of domestic research,and introduces the content,innovation and research methods of this article.The second chapter introduces Rock's life and main activities,and the theoretical basis of Rock's moral education thought.The third chapter discusses the theoretical system of Rock's educational thoughts from three aspects,including the main contents of Rock's moral education thought,education and education methods.The fourth chapter analyzes the enthusiasm and limitations of Rock's educational thoughts.The fifth chapter discusses the contemporary value of Rock's moral and ideological education.
