MOOC(mass open online course)has been raised by George Simmons and Steven Townsend since 2012 and has caused a huge wave in the world.At the same time it also brings challenges and opportunities for higher education at home and abroad.Although MOOC's large-scale,online,free,and open advantages have been favored by many domestic and foreign scholars,there are many problems that MOOC has to solve.As a main representative of informal learning,MOOC can not face to face communication and communication between teachers and students has become a bottleneck restricting the development of MOOC.Because teachers cannot monitor and guide learners in real time,the social interaction discussion area in MOOC e-learning has become the main place for teachers,students and students to explore learning and life.Therefore,how to find out the actual level and communication ability of learners through text data has become a key topic in the current distance education and field research.In the MOOC environment,participants use the discussion platform interactive platform to learn from each other,communicate emotionally,and enhance knowledge building capabilities through information sharing.In this study,the MOOC course “Modern Education Technology” is used as a case study to quantitatively analyze the level of participant interaction in the MOOC discussion area.The social network analysis method is used to study the overall interaction of the course discussion area and measure participant interactions.The overall density,centrality,and communication among subgroups provide the basis for participants' role in the discussion area.At the same time,the content analysis method was adopted.Based on the modified Gunawardena's interaction theory model,the interactive text content of different types of participants was analyzed,and the characteristics of the macroscopic overall network and the mid-view subgroup were finally analyzed.The three aspects of the network relationship,the position of the micro participants,and the interaction characteristics summarize the practical problems in the discussion area.Under the guidance of relevant theories,some suggestions for improving the status of the MOOC discussion area are proposed: Encourage “Hermits” Participate in the course discussion,strengthen the network relationship connection;build learning community goals,enhance the internal cohesion of the network;through brainstorming,strengthen teacher-student interaction;try hierarchical teaching design to construct a variety of process evaluation systems;use emotional design The platform creates a good emotional and interactive environment;the organizational capabilities of opinion leaders are used to develop the benign competition concept of learners,hoping to provide guidance and reference for the sound development of MOOCs.
