As a kind of important material for student to study English,English textbook can embody the editors' educational ideas.In 1930 s,Chen Heqin,who had experienced double education in private schools and missionary schools and traveled in the United States,compiled New English reader(four volumes)after investigating the education of 11 European countries,which fully contained his unique "living textbook" thought.These books are very popular since their publication in 1936,and have been republished more than 30 times since the publication of the reversion of Shanghai Lida book service in 10 years.Today,the dolphin audio and video publishing house has printed it in color and with CD,and New English readers are still regarded as rare extracurricular readings for beginners in English.Since the academic circle has been studying Chen Heqin's educational thought,the "living textbook" has been mentioned more(see footnote),but it has not been explored deeply.This paper base on the text collection,arrangement and analysis,combine with psychology,English language teaching,language communication and other disciplines of theoretical knowledge to make an in-depth Analysis and Research on Chen Heqin's "living textbook" idea for today's English teaching and teaching compiling.The paper is divided into five parts as follows:The first part is the introduction.It includes four aspects: the background and meaning of the topic,definitions of some key words,literature review and the research methods.The second part is an of New English Books.It briefly introduces the background of Chen Heqin's life and the basic situation of the textbooks.The third part focuses on the idea of Chen Heqin's "living textbook" contained in the latest English reading book.This part mainly analysis from three aspects of the vivid content,flexible compilation and activation of teaching,i.e.,according to the nature,big society as the object of select material,rich in content and close to the children's life;In the compilation of teaching materials,the whole text is connected to one whole,and the whole text is connected to one whole.It uses games,plays,puzzles,poems and other forms in teaching,and focuses on children's participation.The fourth part is the Enlightenment of the thought of "living textbook".It Expounds the teaching material should be suitable for the use of "Chinese children".It should conform to the natural orientation of children's "moving" and "doing" and so on.It should inspire three aspects,such as children's pragmatic ability,scientific spirit and social norms.The fifth part is the conclusion,which summarizes Chen Heqin's thought of "living textbook".
