As the most familiar and favorite art form of children,cartoon,plays a crucial role for children in the mathematics enlightenment.With this multi-sensory experience of watching,listening and speaking,children can easily generate great interest in mathematics.In the past studies,there is a lack of comparative study on infant mathematics cartoon from the perspective of education,therefore,comparing the infant mathematics cartoons in Chinese and the United States,this paper hopes explore the educational value in them and find out the advantages and disadvantages of the two countries' mathematical cartoons to provide referential suggestions for cartoon producers to create more “learning through lively activities” mathematical cartoons.At the same time,parents and teachers can better use mathematics animation to promote children's mathematics development.Using the research method of qualitative and quantitative,this paper compares and analyzes the similarities and differences in the design,content and presentation process in the two infant mathematical cartoons between China and the United States and combines the interview from children and parents finding out their the understanding and preference to the two kinds cartoons,eventually comes to the following conclusions:1.In terms of cartoon design,American cartoons incorporate more mathematical elements and pay more attention to entertainment;Chinese cartoons more elements of life and more knowledge.2.In terms of cartoon content,American cartoons pay more attention to the cultivation of children's mathematical process ability,and Chinese cartoons to children's knowledge of mathematics content.3.In the process of cartoon presentation,American cartoons are more interactive and Chinese more narration.4.Different cultural background,education and production concepts,both countries have their own advantages and disadvantages,most children and parents prefer American mathematical cartoons.
